Energy Assessments and Energy Efficiency Consulting

Arno Bredenkamp is the principal consultant and owner of GreenSpace ecoConsulting Services. He is a Energy Manager, Certified Energy Advisor, engineer/entrepreneur with over thirty years of experience in utility operation and management, with recent experience in Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Conservation. He completed the CIET certification program for Certified Energy Managers. He graduated with a B.Eng degree in Electronic Engineering and later an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Later he also completed a program in International Utility Managementwith the Global Utilities Institute of Samford University Business School and a certificate program on Energy Efficiency at Vancouver Island University.  In South Africa he was a Registered Professional Engineer and also held a Certificate of Competency as an Electro technical Engineer that is issued by the South African Department of Manpower.Â

He is a currently a certified provider of energy efficiency assessments for Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN), CleanBC, BCHydro and FortisBC.

He is also also a Program Qualified Energy Advisor for Exiting Homes, New Homes as well as MURBS (as defined underPart 9 of the 2024 B.C Building Code)

For the past 15 years he performed energy audits in the Okanagan, Shuswap, West Kootenays and Vancouver Island. He completed energy efficiency assessments at nearly 50 publicly owned facilities and more than 1000 EnerGuide Energy Assessments at privately owned homes in the Okanagan and Shuswap.Bigger energy efficiency consulting projects were completed for the Penticton Indian Band, The Upper and Lower Similkameen Indian Bands and the DQCHS as well as energy management contracts for local regional districts and local authorities. (Penticton, Oliver, Vernon, RDOS and Summerland)

Publicly owned facilities were assesed in terms of building envelope, HVAC, water systems, lighting and operations and recommendations towards energy efficiency measures were provided to facility management. These facilities included offices, fire halls, landfills and water treatment and pump stations as well as recreation centers. The projects included ASHREA Level 1 reviews, workshops and the presentation of findings and recommendations to plant operators and management.Â
